What Scales do I Need?

There’s a wide range of scales available on the market, and some of them are more likely to adjust to your needs than others. The first thing you’ll need to know is that the size of the scale is based on two things; its maximum capacity and how precise it is. Most weighing scales allow you to change the units from grams to ounces.

Personal Scales

If you’re growing cannabis at home and you don’t need to weigh large amounts of flowers, you can use scales between 100g and 500g, with a 0.01g precision for the most exact, trustworthy results. For example:

• Kenex Glass 100g x 0.01g Scales: these digital scales are battery operated and have a case for transporting.
• Kenex Rosin 200g x 0.01g Scales: this model is ideal for weighing Rosin extracts and other types of extracts thanks to its silicone cover. It can also be used as a normal weighing scales.
• Kenex Magno 500g x 0.01g Scales: this device is battery operated and has a plastic lid that can be used as a tray.

Professional Weighing Scales

Keep in mind that in order to weigh heftier amounts of flowers, you don’t need exact decimal precision, which is why most of these models have a precision of 0.1 to 2g, depending on their weighing capacity.

Weighing Scales Maintenance

Weighing scales are super precise, which means you’ll need to take care of them properly in order to guarantee exact readings and results. In order to keep your scales in the best possible condition, follow these steps:

• Keep it clean: dirt can influence your scales’ precision, which is why we recommend keeping it in a case and cleaning it after every use.
• Keep it away from other electronic devices: magnetic fields produced by some devices can cause erroneous readings in digital scales.
• Take care when transporting your device: if your scales fall, their sensors may end up breaking.
• Use flat surfaces: if the scales aren’t fully horizontal, the readings may not be correct.
• Calibrate your digital scales: most models can be configured and calibrated by using a 50 or 100g calibrating weight.
