2 extractor screens, 220-70 microns — perfect for outdoor grown herb. Screens' diameter: 80 cms, capacity: 1500gr. For a 190 liters water bucket.

Introduction:
The Ice-O-Lator is a pure and simple system for extracting with water and ice. Use of a double screen ensures a very pure end product, leaving the dust particles and organic waste behind in the water.
The key to the process is the water temperature, which has to be right above zero degrees Celsius. Of course, the amount and quality of the end product depends on the input. It's best to use flowers as the larger leaves don't have much resin. Make sure there are no stiff branches inside, as they could damage the bags or block the mixer.

You will need:
- A 190 liters bucket

- A kitchen mixer or wooden spade

- Absorbent kitchen paper

- 5 kilos of ice.

Process:

1) Fill the bucket with ice and cold water, until about 15 cm under the rim. Put the bags inside, the finest mesh first, then the thicker one, ensuring no space between the bags and the bucket. The screens must hang straight down to create the optimal space. Place the screens over the edge of the bucket and pull the cord tight.
2) Add the plant material to the Ice-O-Lator (frozen is better):

3) The resin needs enough space in the bag to fall. If the mesh is too full, it will get clogged. Put the ice on top of the leaves to make sure they stay submerged.
4) Fill the bucket with water up to 5 cm under the rim and let it soak for 15 minutes to cool and moisten properly. The ideal temperature for the process is between 3 and 5 °C (= 37.4 - 41 °F).
Make two holes in the bucket lid to fit the mixer. After the soak, move the ice beneath the leaves, put the lid with the mixer on the bucket, and turn it on at the lowest speed. Mix it for 15 minutes then turn off the mixer and open the lid. Move all the plant material from the sides to the center. Let the Ice-O-Lator rest for 5 minutes to allow the resin to sink. Then switch on the mixer again.
Repeat this process until all the leaves have been mixed and are floating around in the bucket. Normally this should take about an hour and a half.
5) Once you've completed the process, remove the large screen with the leaves and let the water drain. Make sure you work cleanly, so any crystals that have fallen through the first bag don't get stuck on the outside of the bag. Rinse them carefully with some water and make sure they fall into the fine mesh bag.
Now you can add the next batch of plant material. You can run it up to five times. Put the thick mesh bag in the bucket and repeat from step 2.
6) Remove the fine mesh bag and allow the water to drain. If the mesh gets blocked, it's a good sign. Grab the bag with your hands and move it up and down in opposite directions to shift the resin mass from left to right and back. This will allow water to find more space to fall.
Once all the water has gone, the resin will be left on the screen. If it's visibly dirty (greenish color), rinse it carefully with cold water. Place a thick layer of kitchen paper around the mesh as your weight will push out the water. The remaining water in the bucket contains all the plant's soluble nutrients and makes for an excellent fertilizer.
7) Remove the resin from the mesh and crumble it on a smooth surface to dry. The Ice-O-Lator can be cleaned with cold water immediately after use. If the crystals have dried on the screen, use 96% alcohol to clean it.
The remaining humidity must disappear from the resin immediately or it will start to rot. The easiest way is by pressing the resin with your hand until you have a solid ball. As you continue to press and squeeze, the water will become visible on your hands. If it becomes too sticky to work with, freeze the resin briefly to avoid this. To remove the last bit of moisture, flatten the ball as much as possible and put it in the freezer. As water freezes it expands in volume, and will appear on the surface of the crystal mass. You just have to wipe it.
When you press the resin, it will break and the oil will come out. The mix will darken. Only the resin from very fresh leaves or, for instance, from 'white' plants will always stay clear. This is of a very special quality.
